Driving School FAQ — Arizona Permits, Lessons & Licensing

Quick answers about Arizona learner’s permits, behind-the-wheel lessons, rescheduling, ride-alongs, road tests, and getting your license.

Do I need my permit to start the lessons?
Yes. To legally drive in Arizona, all students must have a valid learner’s permit before any behind-the-wheel lesson.
I am over 18 — do I still need a learner’s permit?
Yes. Arizona requires a learner’s permit for all new drivers, regardless of age, to take lessons or operate a vehicle with an instructor.
Can I start to drive if I hold an international license?
No. The Arizona process still applies—you must obtain a valid Arizona learner’s permit to drive with us.
Can you help me void my traffic ticket?
We’re a driving school focused on teaching safe driving skills. We don’t provide legal services or ticket dismissal assistance.
Is there a cost to cancel or reschedule lessons?
Rescheduling is free with 48+ hours’ notice. Within 48 hours, a $75 rescheduling fee applies. For help, contact us.
Can a parent or spouse ride along?
No. Lessons are one-on-one with the student and instructor. All instructors are vetted with strict ADOT background checks, and a solo environment helps reduce student anxiety.
What happens if I don’t pass my road test?
We can retest once per week at our office. Retests are for the exam only (no instruction). If you’d like more coaching before the next attempt, you can add extra lessons—see our Programs & Pricing.
In the event of a car crash, who is responsible?
Our vehicles are covered by a $1,000,000 insurance policy during instruction, and we maintain an excellent safety record. Your instructor will brief you on safety before each session.
I finished my classes—how do I get my insurance waiver/certificate?
An automated email is sent about one hour after your last lesson to complete your information and download your certificate. Check spam if you don’t see it. Still need help? Call (602) 663-3502. Note: This certificate is not required to claim your license.
How do I claim my license after finishing?
Visit a state-run DMV and let them know you completed a driving course with us. They’ll verify your information with your permit and issue your license (typically under $20). We recommend state DMV over third-party offices, which may charge higher fees.
Can I book more than one class per week?
Yes—please call us to arrange availability. Additional fees may apply for accelerated scheduling. View options on Programs & Pricing.
